Orbforge — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-03
Orbforge is a Discord bot for playing a text-based RPG, plus a companion website. This policy explains what data we store, what is shown publicly, and how to request its removal.
What we store
When you use Orbforge, we store:
- Your Discord user ID — used to link your account to your character(s). We do not store your Discord username, avatar, email, or any other Discord profile information.
- Character and gameplay data you create or generate by playing — character name, class, level, experience, stats, inventory items, items in your account-wide shared stash, purchased bag/stash slots, in-game currency (Gold, Gems, and Orbs), skill tree/skill progress, and trade history with other players.
- Gem purchase records (only if you buy Gems) — the Paddle transaction ID, which Gem pack you bought, how many Gems were added, the amount and currency charged, and when, plus any refund or chargeback on it and the Gems removed because of it.
The bot does not collect payment information, IP addresses, or device
information. It does not store message content: it only responds to
slash commands and to messages that start with its o command prefix,
and ignores all other messages.
What is shown publicly
The Orbforge website shows public leaderboards. A leaderboard entry shows only your character name, class, subclass, level, and rank. Your Discord user ID, inventory, and currency balances are never shown publicly.
To have your characters hidden from the leaderboards, contact us on Discord (details below).
Website
The website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider (Vercel). Like most web hosts, it keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operations. We do not use these logs to identify you or for advertising.
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages and referring sites are popular. It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites or from one day to the next. It records the page, referrer, country, browser, operating system, and device type. It does not store your IP address. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
If you sign in to the Gem store with Discord, the website asks Discord only
for the identify permission (your user ID and username). It keeps them in
a signed login cookie for up to 7 days so your purchases go to the right
account, and does not keep your Discord access token. This cookie is
strictly necessary for buying; signing out deletes it.
Payments
Gems are sold on the website through Paddle (paddle.com), which acts as the merchant of record: Paddle is the seller, processes your payment, handles sales tax, and issues your receipt. Your card or other payment details, billing name, email and address are collected by Paddle and handled under Paddle's own privacy policy (paddle.com/legal/privacy). We never see or store your card details.
We send Paddle your Discord user ID and the Gem pack you chose, so its payment confirmation can tell us which account to credit. From Paddle we receive and keep only the purchase record described in "What we store".
How we use it
Stored data is used solely to run the game: tracking your character's progress, inventory, and in-game economy across sessions, and showing the public leaderboards described above. We do not sell, share, or use this data for advertising or any purpose outside operating Orbforge.
Data retention & deletion
Data is retained for as long as your character(s) exist. To request deletion of your data (your Discord ID and all associated characters and gameplay data), contact us on Discord (details below) — we will delete it within a reasonable time.
Where data is stored
Gameplay data is stored in a MongoDB database operated by Orbforge's maintainer. It is not shared with third parties, except the hosting provider named above for the website and Paddle for Gem purchases.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
